The Mozambican club with more trophy’s in professional football, Costa do Sol was previously Benfica of Lourenço Marques and after the independence it became: Clube de Desportos da Costa do Sol, named after a famous beach that is located very near to the Costa do Sol Stadium in Maputo.

It was created as an affiliate of FC Porto from Portugal and was originally named CD Malhangalene. It represented the Police Force during the 80’s in Mozambique and since then it has evolved to normal fan based team.
